A geothermal heat pump is the greenest, most efficient, and most cost effective heating & cooling system available. That's because it uses the free renewable solar energy stored in your backyard rather than burning fossil fuels. But what's really impressive is the level of comfort it provides. Our systems operate for longer periods at lower speeds, making the home consistently comfortable all year round. You have to experience it to believe it.
Governmental agencies like the EPA and Department of Energy, consumer and industry groups, and geothermal system owners all agree: geothermal heating and cooling is considered the world's greenest and most energy-efficient.
Geothermal systems can save you up to 70% on your heating, cooling, and hot water costs. See how much you can save by visiting our savings calculator. State, local, and utility sources in your area may also offer additional incentives. Check out dsireusa.org to see what's available.
Over 1,000,000 geothermal (or ground-source) heat pumps have been installed in U.S. residential, commercial and government buildings. And each year, U.S. homeowners install approximately 50,000 more geothermal heat pumps.
Geothermal Benefits
Energy Efficient
WaterFurnace systems are rated number one in energy efficiency because they can deliver more than five units of energy for every one unit of electrical energy used. Compare that to even the best ordinary system that delivers less than one unit of energy for every unit it consumes. That translates into an efficiency rating exceeding 530%, compared to the most efficient gas furnace which rates only 98%.
Comfortable
WaterFurnace units are designed to run more often at low speeds to provide stable temperatures throughout the home and help eliminate hot or cold spots. They provide a comfort you need to experience to believe. And to achieve even more precise control over temperatures, add our IntelliZone2 zoning system.
Cost Effective
Because of the extraordinary efficiency of a WaterFurnace system, most homeowners save more on monthly bills than they pay for the system when installation costs are financed. Any added investment over traditional equipment is usually recovered in just a few years, and many homeowners see a return on investment of 10-20% over the life of the system. A ground source heat pump is the only heating and cooling technology that pays you back.
Quiet
WaterFurnace systems don't require noisy outdoor units that can disturb your peaceful surroundings. And we've engineered the indoor system to be as quiet as possible. Since it will run at lower speeds more consistently, the amount of system noise is minimal.
Geothermal systems are recognized by the United States Environmental Protection Agency as the most environmentally friendly, cost effective and energy efficient heating and cooling technology available. These systems also minimize the threats of acid rain, air pollution, the greenhouse effect and global warming—problems directly linked to the burning of fossil fuels. In fact, installing a single geothermal unit is the environmental equivalent of planting 750 trees.
Because a WaterFurnace system doesn't use natural gas, propane, or oil for operation, there's no combustion, flames or fumes, and no chance of carbon monoxide poisoning.
Clean Air
Large, high efficiency MERV 11 filters come standard with most of our units to provide exceptional indoor air quality and protect your family from dust and pollen. WaterFurnace units also circulate air more often, further filtering the air.
Flexible
One compact WaterFurnace unit provides heating, central air conditioning, and supplemental domestic hot water for your entire home. Horizontal, vertical, and bottom-flow configurations are available for a wide range of home applications, including newly constructed as well as existing homes.
Geothermal is the only renewable that provides reliable operation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, making it The Reliable Renewable. By using the infinite energy source in the earth, a geothermal heat pump operates efficiently and effectively all year-round—rain or shine, day or night, windy or not. No matter what direction your house is facing or what climate you live in, your WaterFurnace system will deliver.
Less Obtrusive
WaterFurnace systems don't require conspicuous wall-mounted equipment or outdoor units that create unsightly additions to your home's appearance.
Reliable
Geothermal units aren't subjected to the punishing effects of outdoor weather or fuel combustion, so they last longer than nearly any other heating and cooling system. According to the US Department of Energy, geothermal units have an average equipment life of 25 years while the underground loop system has a rated material life of more than 100 years. Ordinary air conditioners, furnaces and heat pumps usually last 15-18 years.

Net Zero Homes
Because geothermal heat pumps are the most efficient way to heat and cool, combining solar and geothermal is simply the best way help homes to achieve "Net Zero" status.

WaterFurnace systems harness the free, renewable energy in your own backyard to heat and cool your home. The system emits no carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide or other greenhouse gasses, which are considered to be major contributors to environmental air pollution.
WaterFurnace has thousands of residential, commercial and government installations throughout the country. Browse our case studies to learn more about people like you that are now using the clean, renewable energy in their yards for unmatched comfort and savings.
It's been all it was advertised to be. I've kept meticulous records and the average monthly utility bill has been $175 (for a 5,000 sq. ft home). That includes heating, air conditioning, hot water, lights and appliances. I've looked at other manufacturers and in the end, found they did not have the package WaterFurnace does. I'm a big fan of WaterFurnace.

Along with the low operating cost, we like the comfort levels. Our previous home was gas heating and we always seemed to have cold and hot spots. It seems our new house is more evenly heated and cooled.
